Corrosion on cooling towers? The solution is our special coating.
When ordinary maintenance proves providential. Following ordinary maintenance activities on some non-Decsa-manufactured cooling towers for a Client based in the province of Alessandria, Italy, and specialised in the production of special polymers, our technicians found a corrosion problem on the cooling towers, which was later solved with our special DecsaProt coating.

The Customer Problem
It is spring 2024 when Cofinair by Decsa’s Service team travels to the Customer, a major chemical company based in the province of Alexandria, Italy, to carry out the usual planned ordinary maintenance on four cooling towers not manufactured by Decsa.
During the intervention, Cofinair by Decsa technicians found a significant corrosion problem inside the water basin of the units installed at the plant. After a careful analysis of the problem, the bid definition and formalisation of the order (September 2024) followed.
The solution: anti-corrosion painting in cooling towers
The intervention, carried out promptly as early as October 2024, first consisted of the removal of corrosion formed inside the water collection basin of two of the NON-Cofinair manufactured cooling towers installed at the site. Subsequently, Decsa’s Service technicians proceeded with the related application of DecsaProt painting (note that due to plant requirements, the Client requested painting for only two units, postponing the intervention for the other two until next year).
DecsaProt treatment, in fact, is indicated for the recovery of damaged components and consists of a cleaning operation from present corrosion and subsequent repainting of galvanised steel components with a special paint called “DecsaProt.”
Applicable even on non-Decsa manufactured cooling towers, this coating can extend the life of the unit, limiting rust reforming and achieving an attractive safeguard of the main investment*.
Once again, we see the importance of carrying out the usual ordinary maintenance activities to preserve the performance of the cooling tower and prevent downtime of the equipment.
With our scheduled maintenance service, it is possible to schedule periodic interventions by Decsa Service (with annual or multi-year contracts) to ensure ordinary maintenance of cooling tower components and control of perishable parts. Moreover, entering into a maintenance contract allows the Customer to have priority in the management of interventions, ordinary and extraordinary, as well as an ad-hoc price list.
*It should be specified that although painting is an important protection against corrosion, it is essential to check the proper treatment of water in cooling towers; another activity that, if requested, is offered free of charge by Cofinair using professionals in the field.
