COFINAIR by GOHL-KTK
The German Subsidiary
Gohl-KTK, German specialists in cooling towers
Welcome to GOHL-KTK, the German-speaking cooling tower specialists within the COFINAIR Group.
Noise control is a key consideration for many of our customers. Operators of cooling systems in urban environments, hospitals, museums, and other sensitive locations are familiar with the stringent requirements of TA Lärm (Technical Instructions on Noise).
That is why we design noise-optimised cooling solutions from the very beginning. Acoustic performance is not treated as an afterthought but is integrated into the engineering process from the outset. We provide complete, end-to-end solutions, covering site assessment, engineering, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and, where appropriate, energy-efficiency upgrades and retrofits. We also work closely with our customers to identify and evaluate funding opportunities on a project-by-project basis. Value is created both at our manufacturing facility in Germany and directly on site through our engineering expertise and project execution. This is what we mean by engineered solutions.
Our product portfolio draws on the full capabilities of the COFINAIR Group, including cooling towers, adiabatic dry coolers, and ammonia condensers manufactured at our facilities in Germany as well as at our sister companies in France and Italy.
Our systems are typically manufactured from stainless steel, ensuring maximum durability, extended service life, and minimal maintenance throughout the entire lifecycle of the installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is GOHL-KTK and what does the company specialise in?
GOHL-KTK is a manufacturer of cooling towers, recooling units and adiabatic systems tailor-made for industry, commerce and building services engineering, with a focus on efficiency, hygiene and sustainability.
Where is GOHL-KTK based, and does the company also deliver internationally?
Our head office is in Durmersheim. We deliver both nationally and internationally. Please feel free to contact us directly with any specific enquiries.
What is the difference between an open and a closed cooling tower?
In an open cooling tower, the cooling water comes into direct contact with the outside air, this is very efficient, but requires greater hygiene measures. In a closed cooling tower, the process water remains in a closed circuit, which significantly reduces maintenance requirements and the risk of Legionella.
What legal requirements apply to the operation of cooling towers?
Operators are subject to the 42nd BImSchV, which stipulates, amongst other things: a duty to notify the public health authority, regular legionella testing, the keeping of an operating log, and compliance with VDI 2047 Part 2.
What is VDI 2047 Part 2 and why is it relevant?
VDI 2047 Part 2 is the mandatory guideline for the hygienic operation of evaporative cooling systems, setting out minimum requirements for maintenance, water treatment, cleaning and documentation.
What information do you need for an enquiry or specification?
The following details will help us provide a quick and accurate design:
- Desired cooling capacity (kW)
- Inlet and outlet temperatures of the cooling medium
- Location and ambient conditions (e.g. maximum outdoor temperature)
- Available floor space and structural conditions
- Special requirements (e.g. sound insulation, hygiene class, materials)
Services
Retrofit & Performance Upgrades
Upgrade your existing ventilation system with the ECUBE Retrofit solution, designed to replace outdated radial fan systems with a high-efficiency modular EC Fan Wall. The retrofit process includes:
- Disassembly of old radial fan system
- Installation of modular EC fan wall
- Controls & BMS integration (standard interface)
- Commissioning, testing & documentation
- Short downtime · Carried out during ongoing operation
- Funding support possible (energy efficiency programmes
Assembly & Commissioning
Gohl-KTK offers professional installation and commissioning services for both fully and partially pre-assembled cooling towers, ensuring reliable performance from day one.
- Professional installation of fully or partially pre-assembled cooling towers to ensure optimal operating conditions.
- Commissioning and start-up support to ensure trouble-free operation, helping to prevent issues such as incorrect piping configurations, excessive power consumption, and basin heating malfunctions.
- Information on access points & lubrication points.
- Technical advice on material selection and best practices to minimize the risk of corrosion and extend equipment lifespan.
Maintenance
We offer annual manufacturer maintenance to preserve system value, reduce energy consumption, and minimize health risks — also available for third-party and older systems.
- Preservation of system value and extension of service life to 30+ years
- Reduction of energy consumption
- Minimization of health risks
Recommendation: annual maintenance by the manufacturer.
Legal Compliance – 42nd BImSchV
GOHL‑KTK supports operators in complying with the 42nd Federal Immission Control Ordinance (Germany’s hygiene regulation for cooling towers)
- Commissioning & Instruction
- Replacement of certain plant components (spray nozzles, flanges)
- Installation of effective droplet separators
- Additional hatches & drains
- Sampling points & biocide connections
Spare Parts & Refurbishment

A word from GOHL-KTK
Welcome to GOHL-KTK.
I’m Thorsten Seefried, Managing Director here at GOHL-KTK. We’re part of the COFINAIR Group, and honestly, we’re usually the ones people call when things get complicated.
Tight rooftops, running systems that can’t be shut down, noise restrictions in the middle of the city, that’s where we feel at home. Hospitals, HVAC buildings, urban district cooling, industrial applications and data centers: we’ve seen it all, and we know what it takes to get it right. Noise planning, for example, is something we think about from the very first conversation, not at the end when it becomes a problem.
We cover everything ourselves: site visit, engineering, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and retrofitting when more efficiency is needed.
Our products come from our own factory in Germany and our sister plants in France and Italy: cooling towers, adiabatic dry coolers, ammonia condensers. Mostly stainless steel, built to last.
Get in touch: we’re happy to have a look at your project.
