Reliable cooling for corrosive water and low-noise operation

Introduction

A leading chemical manufacturer in Denmark selected Jacir (Cofinair) to supply a cooling tower capable of ensuring reliable process cooling in a particularly demanding operating environment. The chemical industry required high thermal performance while meeting strict noise limits due to its urban location. At the same time, the cooling system had to withstand aggressive, corrosive water and guarantee long-term reliability with simplified maintenance.

Customer challenge

The project presented several technical challenges that had to be addressed simultaneously:

  • low-noise operation to comply with environmental regulations in an urban area;
  • efficient heat exchange despite heavily contaminated and corrosive process water;
  • maximum resistance to corrosion caused by both aggressive water quality and the site’s proximity to the sea;
  • easy maintenance to reduce service time and simplify inspection operations.

The Cofinair by Jacir solution

To meet these requirements, Cofinair by Jacir supplied an RH open cooling tower specifically configured for heavy-duty industrial applications.

The installation includes:

  • X-TRACT option to facilitate maintenance of the tower and allow the total extraction of the exchange body by crane;
  • X-STREAM heat exchange surface to prevent the risk of corrosion due to corrosive, heavy-duty quality water,
  • Centrifugal fans solution with integrated acoustic treatment, at the air intake and outlet in order to respect the noise level.
  • X-STEEL corrosion-resistant casing, designed to protect against the risk of corrosion given the acidity of the environment and the proximity to the sea,

Project delivery

The cooling tower was engineered and delivered as a tailor-made solution for the customer’s production process, combining thermal efficiency, acoustic performance and corrosion resistance within a single installation.

The result is a reliable cooling system capable of operating under severe industrial conditions while minimising maintenance requirements, extending equipment service life and ensuring continuous production performance.
